ΣΤΗΡΑ

The goldblotch grouper is a marine fish belonging to the Serranidae family. It is mainly found on rocky and wild seabeds, and less frequently around large rocky slabs. It usually lives at depths of approximately 3 to 70 meters, although it can occur at greater depths.

Younger individuals are relatively small and may sometimes be seen swimming closer to the surface in small groups. Larger individuals are generally solitary, with each fish occupying its own shelter, usually in holes, rocky crevices, or other protected areas.

In Greece, individuals weighing approximately 0.2 to 7 kg are commonly encountered, while larger specimens are much less frequent.
