Red Scorpion

The red scorpionfish is a marine fish belonging to the Scorpaenidae family. It has a short, thick body and a large head that makes up almost half of its total body length. Its unusual appearance is mainly due to its robust shape, numerous spines, and distinctive head features.The dorsal fin is equipped with strong spines on its front section. These spines can cause very painful injuries if the fish is handled carelessly, so caution is advised when encountering or handling this species.

The eyes are relatively small and rounded, while the mouth is large and wide. The snout extends above the mouth and, together with the eyes, gives the head its characteristic appearance. Several sharp spines can be found around the upper jaw and above the eyes, while additional spines are present on the upper and rear parts of the head.

The red scorpionfish is well adapted to life close to the seabed, where its shape and coloration help it blend into its surroundings.
